In January, the construction of the first Giant hypermarket in Brunei commenced.
In March, 7-Eleven South China has acquired 110 Quik convenience stores in Guangzhou. The stores were rebranded as 7-Eleven after completion of the transaction.
In May, Foodworld has added a new dimension to its retail portfolio by opening the first Foodworld Gourmet store in Bangalore. The store incorporates Asian counter and European section with an extensive organic food section.
In June, the first Market Place by Jasons was opened in Hong Kong, bringing 'whole new food shopping experience' to the territory. The store offers high quality Asian-focused product range in a contemporary Western supermarket setting with an Asian touch. A second store was opened in July.
In October, Giant South Asia Vietnam rebranded its first supermarket in Ho Chi Minh City as “Wellcome Supermarket”.
In October, 7-Eleven Hong Kong has launched its new concept store focusing on fresh and fast food. A three-year refurbishment programme is being undertaken that will convert the majority of the 822 outlets into the “fresh food” format.
In December, Dairy Farm decided to cease Guardian Thailand operation effective 31 December 2007. |
